Health Benefits of Dark Chocolate

Good news for dark chocolate lovers. A study conducted at San Diego State University said that the dark chocolate is effective in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease such as heart disease.

Researchers said the reduction in risk, due to cardiovascular-related occurs because the content of flavanols that play a role in lowering blood pressure, blood flow, and improve blood lipids.

In a report published by Health India, they concluded that dark chocolate may reduce risk of heart disease by increasing levels of glucose and lipid profiles. But they cautioned that it should be eaten in moderate amounts, because if consumed in excess, it will easily affect the accumulation of calories and saturated fat.

Flavanols is also able to ward off the evil role of oxygen molecules - known as free radicals not only damage healthy cells, but also alter the DNA cells and is known to cause at least 60 different health problems.

Choose dark chocolate with pure cocoa content of not less than 70 percent. For best results, eat dark chocolate in a portion of 50 grams per day.
