Watermelon fruit is included in the Cucurbitaceae family. Football-sized round with green skin and red flesh with high water content and sweet taste. Not known for sure when the watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) began planted on farms, but according to historical records, this fruit has been known for thousands of years ago by the Egyptians (shown from the hierogliph pictures available on the tomb of Pharaoh).

Watermelon is rich in antioxidants, glutathione that are abundant in fruits and red vegetables. Antioxidants have been proven to effectively prevent various diseases. Such as tomatoes, watermelon contains lycopene, an antioxidant that helps fight heart disease and reduce the various types of cancers, particularly prostate cancer. In fact, according to USDA Database Caratenoid, lycopene content in watermelon is higher among the vegetables and other fruits. The importance of lycopene revealed a study published the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Patients with colorectal adenoma (a polyp, which is the precursor of colorectal cancer) had levels lycopene 35 percent lower than those without polyps. In other words, our bodies need the ability of lycopene to protect body cells and also the structure of the body from damage.

Watermelon classified as fat-free fruit, low in calories, and therefore regarded as an ideal food for diet. Even so, this fruit is a good source of energy. Watermelon can also be a daily multivitamin. By eating just two cups of watermelon (which is cut into pieces), you've got your intake of vitamins A, B6, and C.

Vitamin A, as you already know, good for eye health. Consumption of this fruit regularly can help prevent night blindness and boosts immunity by increasing the function of the infection-fighting white blood cells called lymphocytes. Vitamin B6 produces chemical compounds of the brain, such as serotonin, melatonin, and dopamine. In various studies previously seen, these chemicals help the body cope with anxiety and panic. Vitamin B6 also plays a role in transforming proteins into energy. Vitamin C helps strengthen the immune system to fight infections and viruses, help accelerate healing of wounds, prevent cell damage caused by free radicals (which can accelerate aging and conditions such as cataracts), as well as helping healthy teeth and gums.

Two cups of watermelon is also a source of potassium, a mineral necessary for water balance and found inside every cell. Potassium also helps maintain the body's electrolyte levels and acid-base balance, and help lower the risk of high blood pressure. Not less importantly, potassium also helps muscles and nerves function.

Eating pieces of fruit will also increase the burning of fat and glucose. At least it was proven in mice. Amino acid arginie in watermelon effectively reduce fat in mice who were overweight. What interesting about this watermelon is not only the benefit of its flesh. The white part of watermelon contains compounds that act healthy kidneys, such as preventing and destroying kidney stone.

Gonorrhoea Bacteria is More Resistant to Antibiotics

Gonorrhea or gonorrhoea is a disease transmitted through sexual contact. Gonorrhea is caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae that infect the lining of the urethra, cervix, rectum, throat, and the whites of the eye (conjunctiva).

Gonorrhea could spread through the bloodstream to other body parts, especially skin and joints. In women, gonorrhea can spread to and infect the genital tract lining in the pelvis causing pelvic pain and reproductive problems.

Whenever not treated, acute infection can become chronic and spread to other organs. Unfortunately, antibiotics are now increasingly impervious to fight the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhea causes gonnorrhoeae.

The doctors in the UK stated that antibiotic normally used to treat gonorrhea is no longer effective because the bacteria Neisseria is now increasingly immune. Even the
experts mention has now gotten to the point of this disease can not be cured, at least until new drugs are found.

In fact, if left untreated gonorrhea in men can lead to epididymitis. Being in women, the disease can spread to the uterus and ovaries channels, resulting in pelvic inflammatory. Pelvic inflammatory disease can cause infertility in women.

For now, health experts suggest that doctors stop using the conventional therapy with antibiotics cefixime and replace it with two more powerful antibiotics, one with pill and other through injections. This action is performed because of increasing bacterial resistance.

In laboratory studies revealed the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae has unusual ability to adapt and become resistant to certain antibiotics, including penicillin, tetracilin, ciprofloxacin and now cefixime.

This situation is particularly worrying therefore it needs to be made the new guidelines recommendations in treatment of gonorrhea to the use of new and more effective drugs. However, precautions by only having sex with a partner and stay away from free sex is the best choice for a healthier life.

Side effects of painkiller

Thursday, November 3, 2011

Abuse of painkiller continue to rise. In fact, according to government reports in the United States, deaths from overdose of painkiller is the highest in a decade.

Prescribed pain relievers such as OxyConton, Vicodin, and metadone, triggering an estimated 15,000 deaths in 2008. The amount is three times higher than deaths due to narcotics in 1999 which reached 4,000 cases.

Pain reliever medicines are actually to treat people suffering from severe pain. But it can cause addiction. In the report mentioned, almost five percent of U.S. residents aged over 12 years addicted to taking painkiller, even bought without a prescription to get drunk!

Misuse of pain relievers drugs or often called painkiller are believed to be related to male sexual dysfunction. A recent study published in the Journal of Urology indicate an association between impotence and painkillers. This relationship persists even though researchers have accounted for several factors such as age and some types of diseases that might explain the link.

Based on the research, men who regularly drank medications such as aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and Celebrex at risk of experiencing erectile dysfunction (ED) to 38 percent greater, than men who did not take medicine which is also called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory.

According to the explanation of Dr. Joseph Gleason, urologists who wrote the study, pain drugs can indeed interfere with the production of hormones that trigger erections in men. It was at least able to help provide an explanation to this finding. However, Gleason emphasized, this study does not necessarily prove that painkiller drugs can cause impotence. According to him, other factors not yet known is possible triggers ED.

In the study, Gleason and colleagues analyzed the results of questionnaires about 81,000 men aged 45 to 69. Approximately 50 percent of men admitted taking painkillers regularly (at least five times a week) and less than a third reported experiencing impotence ranging from mild to severe levels. Men who admitted regularly use painkiller, 64 percent said they never have an erection.

After calculating various factors, such as age, weight, tension, and a history of heart disease, researchers still found a higher risk among men who use the painkiller, which reached 38 percent.

Therefore, this study did not examine the content of the drug directly, then you do not need to stop using painkillers fearing can not erect!

Painkiller Side Effects on Pregnancy
Pregnant women who consume pain reliever drugs class of codeine, oxycodone and the opioid at the beginning of her pregnancy are at high risk having a baby with birth defects. Although the number of cases is small, but the babies whose mothers consumed opioids have a higher risk than other babies to suffer from congenital defects.

Others Side Effects of Painkiller
Recent research in Canada indicated, the consumption of painkillers on a daily basis and in high doses may increase the risk of heart attack and stroke by 40 percent.

According to researchers, patients who regularly consume diclofenac (a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory), will experience heart problems are two-fifths higher. Meanwhile, the use of pain relieving drugs such as ibuprofen have been associated with an increased risk of heart attack and stroke by 18 percent higher.

Modern medicine however has risks or side effects that may be harmful. Therefore the use of drugs must be carefully and appropriate instructions from the experts. It should be a serious concern.

Treatment should be carried out until the source of the illness. Painkiller actually -in many cases- only treat the symptoms of an illness. If the source of the illness is not removed then it's useless. The use of any painkillers certainly there are benefits and risks. If you are already taking drugs and worried about the effect, you should consult with your doctor first.
